General Election 2010 Betting: Labour Is Closing In!

1st March, 2010

Online betting odds for who will win the 2010 General Election have changed significantly since the latest YouGov poll was published at the weekend showing Labour gaining on the conservatives with odds on the Conservative party taking a notable dip.

"A YouGov poll shows the Conservative lead over Labour standing at just two percent... "

Punters have quite clearly reacted to the YouGov poll featured in the Sunday Times showing that the Tories have a lead over Labour with just two percent, cutting the odds of a David Cameron majority from 4/11 (71% chance) just three weeks ago to 8/11 (an implied 58% chance).

Online betting for the makeup of the house of commons now suggests that the conservative party could win 335 to 340 seats with labour winning 225-227 and the Liberal Democrats 53 to 54 meaning that there will be a conservative majority with between 16-26 seats.

Betfair spokesman Mike Robb said: "We are now seeing a sustained move against the Conservatives in the betting as Betfair customers react to various polls that suggest the lead narrowing.

"Punters are still predicting a Conservative majority, but its size has been cut by 50 seats in recent weeks."

General election betting is sure to be an exciting contest with odds this good from betfair!
