England vs Wales Rugby Betting Odds
3rd February, 2010
This weekend England line up against Wales at Twickenham. Martin Johnson, Head Coach knows that a win is the only acceptable result and has names what he has said is his strongest available team since his arrival at England showing clear confidence about the team’s chances.
It’s usually a decisive factor, having the home advantage in this fixture; despite Wales winning at Twickenham in their 2007 Grand Slam year, they hadn’t had a win there since 1988 a statistic which is firmly in England’s favour.
The bookies seem to think that an England win is a certainty at 4/7 for the win, with Wales priced at 5/4 and an unlikely draw available at 18/1 all from Bet365.
Many believe that the match could be decided in the front row where a fearsome Welsh trio line up against a fairly inexperienced English unit. Even still, England has remarkable strength and fluidity in and around the scrum area and should be able to counteract any obvious Welsh advantages.
Martin Johnson surprised many by recalling Tait into the outside centre position alongside Ricky Flutey. Tait is to be given extra license in this match to take advantage of the Welsh defenses and it won’t be surprising to see the runner get over to score an early try.
Wales are delighted to have Lee Byrne back in their squad. He is one of the best in the world in this position; however, his inclusion means that Wales coach, Warren Gatland, will have to play James Hook in the centre.
